Anonymous asked: Why don't you like pinterest? It's an easy way to organize things you want to save for later.
Two-fold answer:
Regarding Pinterest as a stand-alone site, I suppose it’s just fine but I use GimmeBar and I adore it. Could not imagine giving it up for any other site.
BUT, regarding it’s adverse effect on Tumblr I would say that on a scale of Not-Frustrating-At-All to Trying-To-Put-The-Toothpaste-Back-In-To-The-Tube-Frustrating it falls to the later catagory. Especially when I want to reblog something but have to click on the link to someone’s Pinterest and then click again to find the original post so that I can override the link to the Pinterest in the reblog… yaddy yaddy yaddy. Can you see where I’m coming from?
I am a huge proponent of crediting original content (there’ll always be at the very least a click-thru to the original post, even if I have to go digging on Google Images). I feel this way especially when it comes to food posts. I can’t imagine anyone caring about some third party’s Pinterests when all they want is direct access to that amazing recipe for ooey gooey cheezy whateverness.
One person’s push-thru laziness is another person’s bane of their existance. Amirite? But honestly, this is not a pointed attack on anyone’s blog in particular and I certainly am not going to unfollow some awesome tumblrs because of it but I’m hoping this trend dies out sooner than later.
